The Surreal Series is an ongoing exploration of the figurative/narrative work of which I am fond. I give myself the freedom to play with archetypal characters and re-arrange the symbols which I use to speak a visual language to create new stories. My dreams are a very important aspect of my creative process. When I work in this series I allow my dreams a larger voice in the visual composition. I also seek to bring the myths and fairytales and folklore that are so dear to me into a contemporary context. It is no surprise that they morphed into the “Smash Hit Television Series” where I can play with the nostalgic memories of childhood, my personal distrust of Television in general and the almost ‘sacred’ place it holds in the hearts, hearths and home of society today.
